Primac® Systems Joins the Networked
Graphics Production (NGP) Organization

NGP Partnership Commitment
Primac® 's commitment to the Networked Graphic Production Partnership
is one of the strategic directions for our company for 2004
and beyond. The ability to deliver to our clients an industry
standard solution for enterprise workflow management is reflective
of our continued commitment to deliver the products and services
which support their strategic initiatives of continued growth
and profitability. By working with the leading industry providers
in the pre-press, press, and post-press areas of the manufacturing
environment, we will provide the seamless workflow integration
demanded by the top printing concerns which comprise our respective
client bases.
Integration Development Path
Primac® Systems has already begun discussions with NGP partners
in the pre-press arena to begin to define the JDF interface
specifics for delivering Primac® resident job creation data
elements to pre-press equipment and the subsequent exchange
of the pre-press resident data back to Primac® for population
of the MIS database for reporting and additional workflow
processing. The anticipated completion of this phase of the
project is late Q3, 2003.
Discussions will be initiated with our fellow NGP partners
in the press and post-press arenas during the Partnership
launch at Graph Expo, 2003. Primac® will devote parallel technical
teams to expedite the completion of the JDF interfaces to
press and post-press providers. Our goal is to have a joint
beta site for each phase of the project completed by Q2, 2004.
Value Propositions
The NGP partnership will provide intrinsic value to our clients
in numerous areas, the primary impact we feel will be provided
through:
- Timely and accurate delivery of consistent information
from the Primac® system to Production Planning, Pre-Press,
Press and Post-Press processes. This will eliminate redundant
data entry and potential human error and provide a seamless
integration of Primac® and graphic arts production equipment.
- Real-time tracking of all activity and materials from
inception through delivery of the finished product providing
for more efficient and effective job tracking and communication
with a printer's customers.
- Improved operating margins through the real-time availability
of information concerning actual material usage and spoilage
versus plan. These events can drive triggers, based on client
based rules, which are delivered to the appropriate management's
desktop via e-mail or portal indicators.
- More efficient and timely delivery of real-time press
activity reporting will allow for more effective management
of these key capital assets to improve job turn-time and
more effectively schedule these resources.
- The ability to meet the increased requirements for quick
turn, on-demand based printing through a streamlined standards
based interface between the management information systems
and the production equipment. Providing for minimal operator
intervention yet achieving the level of reporting and tracking
required to monitor profitability and the client and project
level.
Commitment to Open Standards
Primac® Systems will continue its' corporate dedication to
delivering products based on open system standard. The NGP
partnership now extends that commitment from the application
and operating system technology environment to an enterprise
wide commitment marrying, MIS solutions to plant level production
equipment. Primac® has also joined the CIP4 Organization, which
is developing the JDF standards.
