Order Processing System (OPS)

Order Processing System provides the ability for printers who produce, stock and distribute finished goods products as a “Just in Time” service for their customers. These are most likely to be sheet or self adhesive label or carton converters, forms printers, book printers and printers who produce documentation, price or parts books. Many general commercial printers have added fulfillment services and can make good use of OPS. Each item is defined as a finished goods inventory item.

OPS is flexible: it can handle a simple one item, one customer PO order; or process complex orders involving many ship to locations, many items, and customer PO’s with releases. It is also very helpful for printers and converters who do a lot of repeat or repeat with change printing, even if they do not normally stock the item in finished goods.

Order Processing System Features

• OPS allows up to 999 ship-to locations per customer. These can be added or maintained during order entry
• During order entry, the operator can reserve items that are in stock, allocate against items that are in production and can be used to fill this order, or set up a backorder for items that will require a new production job
• Order Processing is fully integrated with Job Costing. Views allow the production planner to see the quantities of each item for all ship-to locations and items that are similar to decide how to combine them into one job or a series of related jobs. This maximizes production efficiencies and is important for printers and converters who routinely run ‘ganged’ or ‘combo’ jobs
• As newly produced items are received in the warehouse, they are ready for picking and packing. Pick tickets and packing slips are produced, and any back orders can be filled
• OPS is fully integrated with Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and with Sales Analysis
• For repeat items that are not in stock, OPS can automatically launch a re-print job, recalculate the estimate including allowable ‘overs’, and stage the job ticket. OPS supports ‘kitting’
• Sophisticated and flexible handling of WIP financial costs controls the timing and flow of moving costs from WIP to Finished Goods to Cost of Goods Sold
• Numerous on-line views and reports keep CSR and production staff fully aware of an order and release
• Flexible pricing allows different pricing patterns to be established for different types of items or customers
